BIO
Andre Leon is a Newark, New Jersey based visual artist who often collaborates with fellow creator Robert RAMONE under the moniker RORSHACH. Raised in the city’s North Ward within a deeply rooted immigrant Latino community, Leon blends fine art and street art traditions to create large scale public murals that reflect community identity and belonging. Self-taught from a young age, his professional artistic career began with charcoal, acrylic and digital artworks. With the encouragement of his childhood friend and graffiti artist, RAMONE, he began painting beyond paper and canvas. Andre’s first murals were created at abandoned factory walls, which soon granted him an invitation to Art Basel Miami. This opened the door to more opportunities beyond the east coast, allowing him to focus on honing his style as a solo artist. Andre’s art celebrates local history and honor community leaders, specifically women trailblazers, illustrating their energy with his work.
